about

LEADERS OF TOMORROW

I will like to thank all those whose jobs help to make a difference during these strange times of the coronavirus. Special thanks to healthcare professionals and all those helping with the logistics the world needs to function.

We have witnessed during the corona pandemic, many highs and lows in leadership all over the world and also in music; many musicians are out of paying jobs but even more worrisome is the death - due to coronavirus - of many great musicians. One noble mention is the death of Manu Dibango, one of Africa's great and fellow saxophonist. Dibango's music and its impact on the world will continue to inspire us.

Even though the world is passing through such uncertain times, the world has witnessed remarkable leadership strides brought about by young people. Young people are at the forefront of protests against the dehumanization of Black living in the US and other places and the fight against the propagation of structural racism, discrimination and marginalisation crippling Black peoples' existence. The youth are indeed the leaders of tomorrow, but the leadership they seek will not be handed to them on a platter, they must work for it. This album is dedicated to all the young people in the world.

This album is the second of a trilogy of solo saxophone recordings planned this year. In case you have not heard the first, it is called "Mama Africa" please check it out here; iyeecha.bandcamp.com/album/mama-africa. Unlike Mama Africa, this album is graced with beautifully orchestrated tunes and inspired improvisation, highlighting a personal and ever-maturing saxophone style.

I wish to thank my wife and boys, family members and most especially the caretakers of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Vianen where this album was recorded. The reverberation heard on this album is exactly how it sounded in the church and there are no added effects during the mixing stage. I hope that this album will bring you joy.

Thank you in advance for purchasing this album and for supporting my music.
